Resiliency & Recovery, LLC

Background

I started in this line of work as a Skill Builder which provided me the opportunity to observe families in their living environment  who were struggling with daily life.  I was tasked with teaching the family different coping skills for the day-to-day stressors without reverting to drug and/or alcohol use.

I moved into a new position as an Administrative Supervisor on Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) team which allowed me to have a bigger impact on my clients. Many families were court-ordered to take part in IFP to help preserve the familial unit.

It was in this role that I saw the devastating impact drug use had on families due to economic or environmental circumstances.

Passion

With the discovery that my passion was helping people overcome their addictions and helping them forge a new path forward, I chose to obtain my license for Drug and Alcohol Counseling. This allowed me to have a larger effect and make a substantial difference in my client’s lives.

In working with people who struggle with addiction, a common theme was gambling. Many users would attempt to support their addiction by turning to gambling looking for the “big score.”  With the correlation between drug use and gambling, I decided to obtain my license in Compulsive Gambling.

A New Beginning

After years of working with larger non-profit organizations, I realized that much of my time was consumed with corporate meetings and unnecessary red tape.  I wanted to get back to the root of my passion – helping people.

This is why I decided to start Resiliency & Recovery, LLC.
